| Position Responsibilities: |
Mattel, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Creative Development to join its talented team. This position is located at Mattel`s world headquarters in El Segundo, California. DESCRIPTION: From a design team perspective assists art director in working with the senior designers on conceptualizing visual concepts. Lead Boys` team on creative and strategy regarding digital brand direction. Art direct design leads on execution storyboards/sketches, animation, user interface and user experience. The manager`s role is responsible for mentoring designers and helps facilitate design concepts, presentations and gives final approval on all digital boy and entertainment creative. KEY RESULTS AREAS: ` Set and update own design schedule and direct report members ` Establish continuity in digital content - sites, rich media ads and digital style guides ` Give art direction to outside vendors on boy and entertainment properties ` Create strategic creative brief documents and assist with user experience ` Facilitate creative concepts in brainstorm meetings and encourage others SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with producers to set the design schedule, creative strategy and assess marketing needs. Give creative direction to vendor-produced graphics and ensure that the appropriate approval process had been followed. Assist Art Director in managing the design team`s expectations, strives to create an inspirational work environment, mentor team members, share information and inspiration. Takes part in researching usability testing and provide feedback on producer`s information architecture and wireframes. Strong communication, documentation and presentation skills and works closely with team including designers, producers and technical leads. COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Must be able to produce graphic sketches, designs, and copy layouts for online content. Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, and arranges layout based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and aesthetic design concepts. Manager must be skilled in flash file size optimization and consideration of all other digital restrictions when designing. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected - and more specifically knowledge and understanding of the digital medium, its users and community, the newest inventions and technologies, and all facets associated including use of video, audio, gaming and communication - all requirements to create competitive and rich digital content that will stand out against the competition. Should have management training, be personable and inspire team. Requirements: EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED: ` An Undergraduate Degree from a four-year University or equivalent degree from an Art College, with an additional 6 years work experience in the online or related field ` Familiar with a variety of the field`s concepts, practices, and procedures as it relates to art and design ` An online portfolio is a must ` The manager must be competent in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Fireworks or Adobe ImageReady and proficient in Flash ` Working experience and knowledge of Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and HTML ` A history and an understanding of creating content for kids a plus as well as action scripting a plus PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED: The manager role must be a team player with the common goal that all projects are for one Mattel, Inc.
